Straylight Australia

Fourth Edinburgh Fringe Visit

2014 Sees Straylight Australia return to the Edinburgh Fringe, and to C venues, for the fourth time.

In 2009 we brought two shows, Light Bites and Tasty Treats, each composed of 6 ten-minute plays.

We had a cast of five Aussie actors and were directed and stage managed by Annette Rowlison. Both programs scored four star reviews from The Scotsman and we had a ball in Edinburgh. More info is at:

In 2010 we presented our first three-handed Shakespeare-based play Shakespeare's Mothers: Mad, Bad and Dangerous to Know again to lovely, enthusiastic audiences and critical acclaim. The show was directed by RADA's Greg de Polnay and featured Alex Jonas, Cat Martin and Kath Perry all playing multiple roles and, as more than one reviewer noticed, having the time of their lives. The following year we took the show to the Adelaide Fringe with the same cast, now under the direction of Roz Riley. Again, the show was very well received and glowingly reviewed. See the website for details.

Inspired by this, in 2012 we developed another Shakespearean three-hander Shakespeare's Queens: She-wolves and Serpents. Again directed by Roz Riley but with two new cast members, Rachel Ferris and Patrick Trumper, this time we went first to Adelaide and then to Edinburgh.  From Edinburgh we transferred, much to our delight and terror, to London's West End, playing as half of a program called

Double Bill with Leof Kingsford-Smith's The Madness of King Lear at the Arts Theatre near Leicester Square. See Shakespeare's Queens for more info.

Now, here we are - back again in Edinburgh in 2014 with The Road to Skibbereen. This time Straylight Australia is co-producing with Angela Walsh's company Bee Loud. Do catch the show if you can. It is going to be fabulous!
